Baskets aren't just for summer anymore! A spring basket is a fantastic way to brighten up any spot! Easy to make and easy to care for, you'll be enjoying colour right through May!
What you will need:
1 - wire basket frame (12" X 14")
8 - 4" blooming primroses, your favorite colors of course!
3 - 4" pots of Ivy, for added texture include a variegated variety!
A light weight sterile soil, preferably a basket blend
Enough moss or green wool liner for basket
Plastic Bag and a scoop of 14 - 14 - 14 fertilizer
15 minutes of time!
Instructions:
- Start by lining your basket with moss or wool
- Line the bottom of your basket with a plastic bag, this will help to retain water.
- Fill basket loosely with your basket blend
- Gently place 5 of the primroses along the sides of the basket, make sure to distribute evenly. This can be tricky, it sometimes helps to spread the wire frame a bit and then pinch back in place.
- Add two of the ivy along the sides.
- Gently compact soil in basket, and add the remaining 3 primroses and ivy to the top of the basket.
- Add a scoop of 14-14-14 and water.
- Your basket is ready to hang!
Enjoy!
For added fun add a few pansies!
When searching for moss, please be kind and only harvest from areas under development, there are many friendlier alternatives to use such as, wool, & coco liners.
Enjoy your basket all spring, we'll be sure to help you replant it this summer!
