This is an easy project. If you sew, you can easily adapt this to fit any size pot. Go ahead, use those scraps of expensive fabric that you just couldn't throw away!
What you will need:
scrap fabric (approx. 20"x8")
quilt batting
1 button
braid approx 1 yard (optional)
1. Measure the height and circumference of your pot. Add an extra 5/8 inch to allow for seam allowance.
2. Cut the fabric, and the batting the same size.
3. Cut a small 4"x2" piece, batting included. This will be for the button flap.
1. If using braid, pin it to the right side of one of the fabric pieces.
2. Using your machine, baste it to the fabric.
3. Pin fabric pieces, right sides together.
4. Pin the batting on the wrong side.
5. loStitch using 5/8 seam allowance, leaving about 2 inches open in the middle of the long side of the fabric. (This is where the flap will go).
6. Pin the flap fabric pieces together, and batting, and stitch, leaving one side open.
7. Turn both pieces right side out, and press.
8. Edge stitch the flap, then sew in your button hole.
9. Tuck the flap into the open end of the larger piece. Pin.
10. Now, edge stitch the cozy making sure that it secures the flap.
11. Top stitch the cozy about 2 inches from the finished edge. Sew on your button.
And voila! No more lukewarm coffee!
