What's more rewarding than your own veggie garden? Fresh veggies are loved and enjoyed by all, and they're easy to grow! All you need is a sunny spot; good soil, a little bit of patience, and of course water. A seed here, a seed there, a cup of sun, two cups of earth, a splash of water and you are on your way to glorious veggies all season long.
Tip: All garden veggies benefit from regular feeding. So fertilize often, an organic fertilizer works great. It takes a lot of energy to grow a produce in a short season.
Mesclun in the garden is all the rage. A spicy green mix consisting of several lettuces, mustard greens, arugula and kale. A perfect summer salad, all season long. Mesclun is extremely easy to grow. After frost has passed, sow garden bed thinly with seed, at a depth of ½ inch. Use well drained compost-enriched soil. Water thoroughly and consistently; do not allow drying out. Re-sow bed every three weeks, to continue fresh growth. Harvest fresh young shoots regularly. Toss with dressing, serve and enjoy! No garden is complete without it.
