Chard is a cool long season veggie related to spinach. Both the stems and leaves are edible, delicious, and nutritious. Chard is extremely easy to grow, plant in early spring, after frost, 6' apart in well-drained enriched soil. Snip leaves and use regularly to encourage young fresh growth. Enjoy steamed with butter, fresh in salad, or baked into a quiche. A wonderful plant for any veggie garden, a must try!

Interesting varieties: Bright lights, Rhubarb, and broad stem green.
