Magical maybe, after all nothing adds more interest to the garden than a pole covered in beans.

Great to eat fresh, steamed, or canned for later use. For extra nutrition and ease of harvest, plant loads of pole beans.

There are tons of varieties to choose from, however they all have the same basic requirements; full sun and organically well-drained soil, and if they’re a climbing variety don’t forget to provide structure.

Plant seeds after frost has passed, 6' apart, at a depth of 1'. Be sure not to start seed when soil is too wet or cool or you’ll have poor germination. Sow seeds regularly throughout the summer for successive crops. You’ll be up to your knees with beans in no time!

A few must tries are Purple Peacock, Royal Burgundy, Scarlet Emperor, and Blue Lake. Visit our shopping - seeds - beans to find out more!

Tip: Inoculate your seeds with rhizobial bacteria prior to planting,
