Everyone knows the traditional green pepper, we use it in salads and
sauces just for some sweetness and colour but how about adding some zing to your dinner? Try adding some hot peppers to your spaghetti sauce or to your salsa. You don't have to worry the peppers don't have to blow your head off instead try adding a little flavour or spice to your food a little at a time. Some peppers to try for milder spice are Paprika Supreme with green to red fruit and for extreme heat try Habanero which is 1000 times hotter than the usual Jalapeno or also Thai Dragon which is great to add a zing to your Thai food dishes.
When growing peppers remember they need sun and heat so in the early summer when summer heat hasn't quite hit yet protect you pepper plants
by using cloches. Pepper plants need good composted soil that is well drained. Not all peppers are harvested when they are red so do check when you buy the plants with the experts on when they need to be harvested. Also remember that the seeds are the most spicy of the pepper so be careful to removed them before you cook with the peppers.
So go ahead and add a little spice to your life!
