You know carrots are good for you so you may as well grow lots of them. Sow seeds after danger of frost has passed, at a depth of ½" and 6" apart. The best location for carrots is a raised bed of well drained, sandy, slightly enriched alkaline soil. If you have very heavy soil, consider growing a short variety. Longer varieties need soil that is loose and free of clay and rocks.
Fertilise lightly every two weeks. Sow seeds again in early summer for a fall crop. Eat fresh or store in cold storage. In warmer climates you can store carrots right in the garden bed under a thick layer of mulch. Carrots are so good and good for you - in our opinion no garden is complete without them. And here's a great tip: sow Cosmos seeds right on top of your carrot bed, they look good and keep the earworms at bay!
